Abstract:
Taiwan’s electronics sector accounts for a very large share of the island’s overall industry, yet it remains heavily labor intensive, dealing with rising labor costs, talent shortages, and ever tighter precision requirements. Rapid shifts in global supply chains have rendered manual scheduling and passive monitoring insufficient.
This talk focuses on how AI and AI agents achieve autonomous decision making through continual learning and reasoning. AI agents can self adjust and issue operational commands without human intervention, while Digital Twins provide a live, physics accurate virtual replica of the plant, allowing engineers to instantly validate, refine, and forecast the impact of those decisions, creating a perception → reasoning → action loop. This transforms factories from labor driven operations into truly self governing systems, boosting throughput and yield, cutting energy and material waste, and giving companies the agility and competitiveness needed to thrive in today’s fast changing global market—propelling manufacturing to a new level of autonomy.

Andrew Hsiao graduated from the National Taiwan University EMBA program in Information Management and has over 25 years of experience in software development and R&D leadership. Throughout his career, he has focused on computer vision, embedded device BSP, big data and machine learning, deep learning, and artificial intelligence. Currently, he is dedicated to building AI and Digital Twins platforms tailored for the manufacturing industry, helping enterprises elevate their level of autonomy in operations.
