Dear class,

First of all, I want to officially welcome everyone to the machine learning course this year.

As some of you may have known, we released homework 0 on the course website a couple of days ago, and you can start working on it now. You do NOT need to turn in this homework. The goal of homework 0 is to help you refresh your minds on some of the background knowledge that will be needed for this course. If you are not familiar with many of the problems in homework 0, it is quite likely that you will not successfully pass the course. In that case, you may want to either study harder on the background knowledge, or consider dropping this course now.

I don't mean to scare everyone, but I have to warn you that this course is designed to be a difficult one. Thus, please be sure that you can allocate sufficient amount of efforts and time for this course throughout the semester.

Well, after all the bad news, may the brave ones stay! I look forward to seeing you in class tomorrow.
