Professor Hsueh-I Lu's Biograph

Professor Hsueh-I Lu earned his B.S. and M.Sc. degrees in Computer Science and Information Engineering from National Taiwan University in 1986 and 1990, respectively. He further pursued his studies at Brown University, obtaining an M.Sc. and a Ph.D. in Computer Science in 1992 and 1997.

From 1996 to 1999, Professor Lu was a faculty member in the Department of Computer Science and Information Engineering at National Chung-Cheng University. He subsequently joined the Institute of Information Science at Academia Sinica, where he served for five and a half years (1999--2005). Since February 2005, he has been part of the Department of Computer Science and Information Engineering at National Taiwan University, where he currently holds the position of Distinguished Professor. In addition, he has a joint appointment with the Graduate Institute of Networking and Multimedia.

Professor Lu has been the recipient of several accolades, including the Ta-You Wu Memorial Research Award from the National Science Council in 2002 and the Academia Sinica Research Award for Junior Research Investigators in 2004. At National Taiwan University, he has twice been recognized with the Five-Year Outstanding Teaching Award (2007 and 2016), an honor reserved for the top 1% of faculty members across the university. In 2022, he was awarded the Outstanding Research Award by the Ministry of Science and Technology.

Professor Lu's research primarily focuses on algorithms and graph theory.
