在本次對資訊工程學系所的演講中,我們會說明您作為學生或教師,如果您與聯發創新基地合作,可以實現哪些目標。我們將簡要介紹創新基地的三年歷史,以及其在人工智能上的使命。我們也將分享實際的例子;在這些例子中,實習生、遠程學生、學校教職員工和創業企業家與我們合作,取得了學術和事業上的成功。在其中一個例子中,我們讓一名不擅長 AI 的遠程學生,在一篇我們今年 NeurIPS 上發表的作品中發揮所長。你或妳想成為下一個成功者嗎?

MediaTek Research and You
In this talk to the general Computer Science Department/Institute audience, we will go over what you, as a student or as a teacher, can achieve if you and MediaTek Research (MR) collaborate together. We start with a brief introduction of the three-year-old history of MediaTek Research and its AI missions. We then follow up with concrete examples, in which intern students, remote students, school faculties, and startup entrepreneurs worked with us for academic and industrial successes. In one of the example, we fit a remote student who was not familiar with AI into a work published at NeurIPS this year. Would you want to be the next success story?
After we go over the cross-continental joint NTU-MTK seminar series, we will open the floor for interactive Q&A. The remaining time can then be optionally used for a more detailed look at the commitment of MR to its collaboration with NTU, and MR's pursuit of AI-first AI.
 
 
Biography:
 
許大山博士於2011年加入聯發科技,目前為 Mediatek Research 的負責人,研究中心的主軸在人工智慧。在此之前曾任 Mobilepeak Systems 的共同創始人與首席技術長,台灣大學電機系電信所副教授,以及Qualcomm 蜂巢式網路演算法負責人。99 UC Berkeley 博士, 93 NTU EECS 學士。研究興趣在於基礎 communication and computational 理論;實務上將理論實用於商用之蜂巢式通信,虛擬與擴增實境,機器學習之於自然語言,以及機器學習之於EDA等領域。
 
Dr. Da-shan Shiu joined MediaTek in 2011. He is currently the Managing Director of Mediatek Research. The current focus for the Research center is Artificial Intelligence. Prior to this, he was the co-founder and chief technology officer of Mobilepeak Systems, associate professor of the Department of Electrical Engineering of National Taiwan University, and the Lead of Qualcomm cellular modem algorithms. He received PhD. from the University of Califorina, Berekely in 1999 and BS. from NTUEE in 1993. His research interests lie in basic communication and computational theories; for applied work, he puts the theory to work in the field of cellular communication, digital signal processing, virtual and augmented reality, natural language processing, and EDA.
