為了更有效的管理郵件(支援maildir)，我們將於七月下旬更換webmail。 新的webmail採用的是和台大本身的webmail相同的 Horde。新的webmail網址為 http://webmail2.csie.ntu.edu.tw/，請大家試用一下，如果有問題請回報。

In order to manage mail more efficiently, we will change the webmail framework in late July. The new webmail framework is Horde which is same as the NTU Webmail. Here is the new url: http://webmail2.csie.ntu.edu.tw/ . Feel free to use it, if any thing wrong happens, please report to us.

工作站教學實驗室最近添購了四台IBM System x3550伺服器，因此相關設定有所改變。

  1. linux1-4現在是64位元並配有8GB的記憶體
  2. bsd3,4,6的記憶體也升級為4GB。

最近我們新增了一個垃圾信的filter (bogofilter)，將會在信件的主旨上加上[spam]，而以前的那個filter是加上[SPAM]。 若有信件被誤判為垃圾信，請將該信件原文轉寄給notspam@csie.ntu.edu.tw。若漏抓了的話，請將該信件原文轉寄給spam@csie.ntu.edu.tw。

Lately, we have added another spam filter (bogofilter), it will add the tag "[spam]" to the mail's subject. The original filter will add the tag "[SPAM]". If it misjudge a good mail to spam, please forward that mail to notspam@csie.ntu.edu.tw. However, if it didn't recognize a spam, please forward that mail to spam@csie.ntu.edu.tw

為了有效地使用Matlab License，我們將會偵測user的idle時間，超過一天將會把license收回。

In order to use Matlab License effectively, we will detect the user's idle time. If the idle time excesses one day, we will release the license.

工作站教學實驗室最近添購了新電腦，因此相關設定有所改變。

  1. linux10-14和bsd2現在是64位元並配有4GB的記憶體
  2. 因為最新的Debian(amd64版本)沒有"pine"的套件．因此想用pine的請先用其他的機器
  3. cjk-latex的套件有更動，請將ming替換為bsmi，以及kai替換為bkai。若有其他問題，先試著將家目錄下的.texmf-var
  4. BSD系列的GNOME已更新為2.16版，Firefox也已更新為2.0版
  5. 運算使用規定

Due to the new machine purchased lately, there is a slight change to our computation rule and environment.

  1. linux10-14 and bsd2 are now 64bit with 4G memory.(Please refer to http://wslab.csie.ntu.edu.tw/env_hardware.shtml)
  2. The latest distribution for Debian (amd64 version) doesn't have package for "pine". Therefore, if you want to use pine, please use other machine for now.
  3. The package for cjk-latex has changed. Please replace font "ming" with "bsmi" and "kai" with "bkai". And If you have problem with cjk-latex, try to remove the .texmf-var under your home directory.
  4. BSD* have updated GNOME to 2.16 and Firefox to 2.0
  5. Computation rule
    • For general usage, please use bsd1 and linux15. Do not run academic or research programs on them.
    • Academic or research usage, please use bsd3-8 and linux1-14.(bsd2 will be ready in a few days)

[2006/01/16] Login Outside Taiwan

近來有使用者反應, 提到從國外連回工作站都會無法連線成功, 麻煩大家依據我們提供的方式協助我們測試, 如果你方便提供的話.

  • 試試看 ssh 到 bsd1 的 port 80 或 443 看看
  • 提供你連線時間跟 IP (動態的沒關係)
  • tracert workstation 的結果

Recently, we receive some requests from our users that login disconnection outside Taiwan. If it's possible for you to provide information, please try the following steps.

  • Try to ssh to bsd1 on port 80 or 443
  • Give us the time and IP address you connect to workstation (If IP address is dynamic, it is ok).
  • Give us the result of tracert workstation
