Ferng-Ching Lin(林逢慶) received the B.S. degree in mathematics at National Tsing Hua University, Taiwan, in 1970 and the M.S. and Ph.D. degree in mathematics at State University of New York at Buffalo in 1973 and 1979, respectively. He was on the faculty in Department of Mathematics at National Cheng Kung University from 1979 to 1981. Since then, he has been on the faculty in the Department of Computer Science and Information Engineering at National Taiwan University, where he was a full professor till 2000. He served as the Department Chairman from 1987 to 1990. From 1994 to 1998, he also served as the Director General of the Business Administration Bureau of the Taipei City Government. His research area is parallel computation, with special interests in routing problems and parallel compilers.

From 1987 to 1989, he was with ERSO, ITRI, Shin-Chu, and was the acting director of the Advanced Technology Center, where research efforts include AI and parallel processing. In 1989 he rejoined the CSIE Department, NTU, and is a Professor of the Department till 2001. His research interests include computer architecture and expert systems.
