Share-Young Lee(李學養) was born in Taipei, Taiwan. He received the B.S., and M.S., and Ph.D. degrees from National Taiwan University in 1964, 1966 and 1974 respectively.

From 1966 to 1977 he was with the Department of Electrical Engineering, National Taiwan University. He set up the Department of CSIE, NTU in 1977 and was the department chairman from 1977 to 1981. From 1982 to 1984 he was on leave and did research on magnetic-bubble memories in the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering, Carnegie-Mellon University, Pittsburgh, PA, U.S.A. From 1984 to 1987 he joined IBM Research, U.S.A. working on acoustic diagnosis of copiers and line printer hammers. From 1987 to 1989, he was with ERSO, ITRI, Shin-Chu, and was the acting director of the Advanced Technology Center, where research efforts include AI and parallel processing. In 1989 he rejoined the CSIE Department, NTU, and is a Professor of the Department till 2001. His research interests include computer architecture and expert systems.
