More news pertaining to the upcoming Tenchi movie to be released next
year: the theatrical release of A Far Away Feeling in Japan is now
postponed to the Golden Week (April ~ May) of 1999. The new movie will
feature the entire regular TM! cast: Tenchi, Aeka, Ryoko, Sasami, Mihoshi
and Kiyone, Wasyu, Ryo-oh-ki, Nobuyuki, Katsuhito/Yosho, Azaka and
Kamidake.
Tenchi Muyo! Ryo-oh-ki manga volume 9 was released on December 1st:
ISBN4-04-712176-2, 560 yen, 180 pages. More interesting character
and adventure stories.
The first volume of Tenchi in Tokyo (aka Shin Tenchi Muyo!) is now in
stores everywhere in North America.
Licensed from GETS, official Taiwanese versions of Shin Tenchi Muyo! and
Pretty Samy TV VCDs are now available from Mu Mian Hua. Each VCD comes
with two episodes and is retailed for NT$300 (~US$9).
AIC is now in the process of creating a English version of their website.
Definitely a good news for anyone who is Japanese-phobic.
Anime section of the UCI Bookstore will be closing down later this year. For
those of us who have depended on UCI for direct orders of special anime
products from Japan in the past will now have to look elsewhere. Luckily,
Mike Riley, the person in charge of the anime section of UCI Bookstore
will be retiring/is already retired and will be opening his own anime
store called Tokyo
Pop. Keep an eye out for it.

Today, I received a relief e-mail from Michael Wilson.
Date: Sat, 10 Oct 1998 20:20:10 -0400
From: Michael Wilson (ssj9trunks@home.com)
To: sasami@mechapilot.com
Subject: English AIC Page
If you look under the AIC logo, you'll see this text: "English Version
.....Coming Soon!" Be happy! You should hug another pumpkin, too.
(joke... in case that didn't come out nicely)
Perhaps I was a little too presumptuous with AIC on their decision with
the English website... ^^;;; Thanks for putting my mind at ease, Michael!

First, the good news...
Volume 8 of Tenchi Muyo! Ryo-oh-ki OVA manga has just been
released in Japan and Taiwan. Funaho and Misaki are on the
cover. This issue features some really cool character stories not to be
missed!
According to the Nov. issue of Looker, a Tenchi Muyo PC Card
Game software will be released on October 9 by AIC Spirits. The
target platforms are Win95/98/NT4.0. List price is 5800 Yen. It contains
6 mini card games.
Rumors are coming very close to becoming facts. Announcement for Tenchi
Muyo! in LOVE 2: A Far Away Feeling has recently been made in a PLDC
convention in Tokyo. Below is a report concerning the event.

Courtesy of Sasami-kyo Okayama
Headquarter
Here is a rough translation for the article accompanying the pictures:
It all happened very suddenly. After the premiere showing of Battle
Athletes OVA Mission 6 and the first episode of Photon, a
representative told us this:
"Today, a special announcement only in Tokyo. Scheduled to be
released in theaters [in Japan] next January, work for the third
installment in the Tenchi Muyo! movies has begun. Tentatively titled
'Tenchi Muyo! in LOVE 2: A Far Away Feeling', the movie is directed by
Hiroshi Negishi, who also directed the first TV series and
TMiL; the script is written by Saharu Amiyama. As with Achika
of 'in LOVE' and Mayuka of 'Manatsu no Eve', there will also be a new
character appearing in 'in LOVE 2'. What kind of 'feeling' will it be?
Find out in the Jan 99 theatrical release. Later we will be
showing a 30 sec promotional of this special report, so don't go away!
^_^"
Stay tuned for more info.
Now the bad news...
AIC has just
moved its pages to a new server. The English pages have been completely
removed, along with the video and CD libraries... ;_; Check it out for
yourself.

Looker is a monthly Anime magazine published in Japan. Previously,
it is called Anime V.
In the "Rumor" page in the Oct issue of Looker, a 'certain' producer
claimed that Negishi Hiroshi will be directing a new Tenchi movie
called Tenchi Muyo! in Love 2 - Haruka naru Omoi (roughly
translates to: A Far Away Feeling)...
Let's hope that rumor is correct. ^_-

Uh oh, bad news for Tenchi fans anywhere in the world:
"This may be the last update for the English side of the AIC website since
management is planning on cutting the site down to a smaller size and only
maintaining Japanese pages. The CD Library and Video database will
probably be cut as well. Any suggestions/complaints can be sent to
aic@anime-int.com and they will be
passed onto management."
Please voice your support for the website and prevent this from happening!

The second TV series and a new movie have been released recently, and one
new Tenchi movie is currently in the works.
The new TV series by designer Tsuji Takeshi is called Shin Tenchi
Muyo! (New Tenchi Muyo!), which started airing on TV Tokyo on Tuesday
April 1st, 1997, at 18:00, and recently completed its run on September 23rd.
Previous Tenchi stories always took place at Tenchi's home in Okayama, but
this time the primary setting is in Tokyo, where Tenchi goes to a new
school alone. However, Wasyu manages to create a dimensional portal which
allows the gang to travel between Okayama and Tokyo and back. A new human
character, Sakuya Kumashiro
(seiyuu Mayumi Iizuka), is introduced; she is the new girl who goes after
Tenchi in Tokyo. There is also a new female villan named Yuugi. Go to
http://ryoohki.anime-int.com/news/newdesign for character sketches of this
new series, and http://www.anime-int.com/ld/movies
for a quicktime movie of the new OP (5.4 MB). LDs and Videos of Shin
Tenchi Muyo! are now available for purchase in Japan.
The second movie entitled Tenchi
Muyo! Manatsu no Eve which translates to Tenchi Muyo! Eve in
Midsummer was released in Japan summer 97 by Kadokawa. All the Tenchi
girls are present in this OVA-based movie (including Kiyone), along with
Tenchi's daughter, Mayuka (who has dark blue hair and two
ponytails). Although there is no indication of who Mayuka's mother is,
Wasyu confirms that Mayuka is indeed Tenchi's child. Manatsu no Eve
should be available on LDs/Videos in Japan January 98, and is
looking at a North American release on March 24th.
The other movie, tentatively titled Tenchi Muyo! in LOVE 2, will be
released by Pioneer. It is most likely to be OVA-based and will, once
again, put the spotlight on Tenchi's mother Achika.
