The opening screen is pretty straight forward, it gives you the choice of starting a new game or loading an existing one. Keep in mind your old savegames will be deleted if you start a new game.

When you enter a battle this bar indicates the character's name, attributes, level, life, and ability points. Once the ability points are charged to the max, you have the option of transforming a third-level-up character into super mode with charged up power attacks. Keep in mind you will not have access to a character's normal abilities in this mode. When the ability points are depleted, the character will return to normal mode automatically. However, you may choose to return to normal in advance by selecting Abort from the menu.

After you select a character, you have the option to Move, Attack, Transform, Abort, Undo, or End Turn. Some options may be turned on or off depending on the options you selected previously and the state the current selected character is in.
  • Move: A character can move anywhere within the allowed squares. If the character moves next to an enemy, he/she may attack it.
  • Attack: Attack an adjacent enemy character by selecting the enemy character and an attack from the attack list. The character cannot move after he/she has attacked.
  • Transform: Once a character has reached third level and his/her ability points charge up to the max (increase a character's ability points by letting him/her rest several turns), he/she can go into super mode by selecting this option, enabling him/her to use power attacks.
  • Abort: If a character wishes to return to his/her normal mode in advance, select this option.
  • Undo: If you wish to undo a character's movement, select this option.
  • End Turn: Once you have finished moving all characters, select this option to end turn.
