CHARACTER PROFILES

Azaka & Kamidake The Guardian is an artificial life form created to protect the Juraian Royalties. Azaka and Kamidake's responsibilities are to protect their master Aeka and to operate the controls of Aeka's ship Ryo-oh. Besides these two primary functions, the two Guardians are endowed with a number of special abilities. In the OVA universe, Azaka and Kamidake have the power to generate stasis fields as well as the ability to teleport via subspace, which causes the gems embedded in their bodies to glow when they access these powers. After the destruction of Ryo-oh's body cavity, they spend most of their time serving as gateposts to the Masaki residence. The name Azaka and Kamidake are written on their cylindrical wooden bodies in special Juraian name characters, Azaka in blue and Kamidake in red. In the TV universe, the Guardians are created to house the spirits of the two greatest warriors of Jurai: the Juraian knights Azaka and Kamidake, for which they were named after. In Shin Tenchi Muyo!, the Guardians have two hidden rocket packs to help them travel great distance. They can also fire powerful electrical beams to defeat their enemies.
